500HR-RYT, B.S. in Dance, Reiki practitioner, trauma-informed consultant, 10+ years teaching movement

My love for movement and its expressive capacities first drew me to dance then to yoga. During my dance undergrad, a professor introduced me to yoga and meditation. The invitation to slow down, to enter into a thoughtful and embodied practice, strongly resonated with me. Initially, I approached yoga as a means to recover from years of wear and tear as a dancer and gymnast, though over the past decade, my understanding of yoga evolved from purely physical into an intuitive emotional, mental, and spiritual healing practice. My excitement to share this gift is what inspired me to become a teacher.

When guiding a practice, my intention is to empower others to build a relationship with their body and to experience a fully integrated self by removing the blockages that keep us segmented. This can look like infusing breath into movement or incorporating the body’s feedback to enter into greater awareness and presence. It can also look like stillness, witnessing the breath and adding nothing else. That’s the beauty of yoga. There’s not one way, one perfect method. We all show up with different backgrounds, limitations, and intentions, which is why yoga is a personal practice, one that strengthens the relationship between you and you. My job is to simply hold space for this journey.
